the only eggs that come in a 6 pack at the margaretville a&p have advertising on them. not the carton. the eggs. "buy comcast" with an 800 number is printed on each egg. is there anything else to say about this? no.
today at the delhi pizza hut there's a dad with four kids. they're all around 7-10 with long, wild hair, one wearing a t-shirt promising "i'm the evil twin". three of the four looked identical so who knows which was the good one. nobody else having the buffet at 2:30 on a sunday but this family and us. the dad is reading from some sort of quiz book. great questions. questions with answers like "between the devil and the deep blue sea". deep must have been the theme for the page because the next answer is "how deep is your love". the father is appalled that the kids don't know it and sings nearly the entire song. he knows most of the words, too and belts it out with the confidence only a father of ten year olds can have. most kids would be mortified but these four giggle and encourage the dad. a few questions later "smoke on the water" wafts over the pizza hut divider.
it's not like this in brooklyn.
